YOUNG ADULT COMMITTEE
The purpose of the Detroit Branch NAACP Young Adult Committee is
to educate, stimulate and mobilize young adults in the Detroit Community;
To inform young adults of the problems affecting African Americans
and other people of color; To advance the economic, educational,
social, and political status of African American and other people
of color; To stimulate an appreciation of the African American contribution
to US civilization; To develop an intelligent and militant Young
Adult leadership in the city of Detroit.
NAACP Young Adult Committees participate in social justice
advocacy by addressing local issues as well as a National Agenda
made up of issues including: Criminal and Juvenile Justice, Economic
Development, Education, Health & Voter Empowerment. Young Adult
Committees address the National Agenda by organizing Town
Hall Meetings, Issues and Mobilization Rallies, and Direct Action
Campaigns around specific issues and legislation effecting young
people in their local area.
